And because in 2009 her children were grown up and out on their own — and she could — she started Bean Up The Nose Art .
Tamara made mixed media collages and had them reprinted as greeting cards and luggage tags in small batches at local, family-owned print shops in the San Francisco Bay Area and on Whidbey Island, Washington. And she drove between the two wonderful spots and sold her wares to terrific independent brick & mortar stores owned by great shopkeepers.
And then two sales reps began selling, too. Magic fun. And lots of order fulfillment every weekend.
And then, more magic.
In summer, 2012, Calypso Cards became national distributor of many of Bean’s original cards. And in fall, 2012, Thirstystone licensed 22 images to make a collection of homewares.
Which means a) lots of gratitude around here and b) more time to engage in most excellent activities. Such as . . . .
* creating more and more — and different styles of — images for Bean Up The Nose Art goodies. In fact, in 2014 . . . three whole brand new lines, with different looks
* launching back into the world of selling-on-her-own again . . . taking the three new lines to brick-and-mortar stores up and down the West Coast
* self-publishing a second “100 DIY Tips” book: How To Start Marketing Your Art
* playing in the world of social media. Because Tamara discovered — through blogging, playing on Twitter, visiting friends on Facebook, and falling in love with Instagram — that the world of connection-building on these playgrounds is just as fun and creative as making art. She hopes you will visit Bean Up The Nose Art at any one of its many spots on the internet and let her know how she can help you out.
